Attention!! It is time to fetch your planners and pens. Not pencils, because you do not "pencil in" the FDO™ ... you put that shit in pen, or you just break down and tattoo it on your arm so you won't forget. Bars will be determined on a city-by-city basis.

well damn

no hopes to hit new mexico eh? :(

What's with San Francisco having two stops now?

sadock's picture
Not that I really care, but how does it affect the contest? Do they get to combine their attendance or what? Either way seems a little wonky. One way potentially splits the San Fran #s, the other lets them get semi-double #s. FDO? Ruling please?

Thank you, George Hrab, for composing and performing the acoustic version of brainsbodyboth. Humorous yet poignant, and you gave me a theme song. I miss Ally <sigh>

Drat

I will be out of town on your Chicago visit - drat!!!!!!!!! Hope you will come back through!

Dang

I was really hoping for Detroit Metro Area, namely Ann Arbor. Seems appropriate.

M is for Mystery...

Is about 10 minutes from me. I'll definitely be there. How long will you be staying, til the store closes or...?

Usually about two hours total

scottsigler's picture

I do my reading thing, then wander to the nearest bar -- so join me and hang. That's standard proceedure for any reading.

1. Scott reads
2. Scott chastises the goobers that show up in "7th Son" T-Shirts
3. Q&A
4. Exit bookstore, enter bar
5. Chit-chat until all thirsts are quenched
6. Go home

What about LA?

freakopedia's picture

Man the Los Angeles area is going to miss our FDO this time around. Sadness is overwhelming!!!

Hurdy gur, Freakopedia

Houston help...

Gmork's picture

So I was checking out where to stay nearby the bookstore where this big bad book signing is going down.. Do any of you familiar with Houston have suggestions? Just want to ensure I'm not choosing a mega ghetto area .. not sure if Houston has ghetto areas, but if so I'd like to avoid them!

Houston Help

MuchAdo's picture

Go to this website http://hotel-guides.us/texas/houston-tx-hotels.html.  Chose find hotels near street address.  Put in the address 2352 Bissonnet St.  Chose your dates of stay, etc and then you'll get a list of motels/hotels near the bookstore.  If you need more help send me a private message.

OMG Thanks MuchAdo

Twowire's picture

Last year when I looked up this location I thought it was farther out between Hwy 8 and Hwy 6 and closer to Westheimer. Sorry Gmork! MuchAdo has given you the correct Information!

“[No matter where you go, there you are] - And Sigler knows exactly where there is! ”

Yup.

JP's picture
Westheimer is where the trouble-makers stay: even where the wisenheimers stay... Certainly you knew this!

Gmork you'll be on the west side

Twowire's picture

of Houston and close to a town called Katy a few miles west of the book store. There are several places in that area.

Sweet!

Gmork's picture

I was looking at a map of Houston later this evening and it looks like there is a lot in that area.  Thank for the confirmation, though...puts the mind at ease!

Actually Gmork

MuchAdo's picture

You'll be in the rice village area.  And yes, there are places in Houston you don't want to stay.  I'll look in a few minutes and find you some decent choices.

GRRRRrrrrrrrr

When are you going to expand your domination and visit the UK on a damned book tour eh?

You've got a possible mutiny on your hands so you need to get your butt over here and kick some ass. Plus we got better beer than that fizzy pop you guys drink :)

Sigler ate my degree in Inglich Litritchure

Talk to the publisher ...

scottsigler's picture
My UK publisher is Hodder & Stoughton. Great people, but won't pony up the bucks to bring me out and hobnob in the pubs. The UK version of CONTAGIOUS comes out in August, 2009. So the UK fans need to start hammering on Hodder to bring me out for a CONTAGIOUS UK book tour!!!

So does this mean.....

sadock's picture

...that even if London *had* been in the Top 5, Crown wouldn't have footed the bill for a stop on the tour? That blows. I really wanted to get the FDO a free 'vacation' over in Europe. Finegle it so that it's the last stop on the tour, spend some extra time, etc. etc.

Thank you, George Hrab, for composing and performing the acoustic version of brainsbodyboth. Humorous yet poignant, and you gave me a theme song. I miss Ally <sigh>

chicago!

drew's picture
looking forward to our combo meetup with scott and our chicago D&D listeners. good times in store for sure.

DC?

Wow! I was planning on making this, but the "Washington, DC" location is a 2 hour public transportation trip from the city. Hopefully, I'll be able to find a ride...

So Thursday night

MuchAdo's picture
for Houston. I guess we'll have to take the Rice Village by storm after the signings and I'm sending an email to Murder by the Book to reserve my copies! Now that's what I'm talking about!!!!!!!

Along with Shadygirl and Gmork, you're without a doubt one of the craziest, most fun 24 year olds I know!

Travelin' to the FDO

So Baltimore didn't win a chance to get the FDO. I represented but the other bitches were to LAME to get with the program. FINE! I'm bringing my deathmobile and my personal stormtroupers with me to Richmond. If the great one can get this close, I can go the rest of the way. See ya in Richmond you stanky bitch! :BL!X:

NYC

DedSysOp's picture
Jeckyel & Hyde is down the block from Borders, but it's very touristy... less alcohol for the money... I try to avoid the 'family friendly places' so I'll let someone else make those types of suggestions... In the immortal words of Socrates "I Drank What?!"

Bars

Swimzalot's picture
The plan is to go to a bar... If you happen to be a junkie under age 21 and looking to see the FDO, do we have to cut out early?  I'm in Chicago by the way.

We'll shoot for "family style" then

scottsigler's picture
Lets find a place near the bookstore that will take your underage ass as well as let us fetch beers. The burden is upon YOU, Swimzalot!!

T.O.

Sigler, Get up here to Canada, you Americentric jerk. Toronto is almost directly between Chicago and New York. What's the problem?

Sweet, but...

NeuroMan42's picture
where is the Florida visits? How about Sarasota... we have art, music, beaches, museums, and beer. We also have a large community of writers. Hell, Stephen King lives here when not in Maine. :) Don't forget to get back in your Bunker, up your Meds, and secure your Tinfoil Hat.

Where were you when the voting was going on?

scottsigler's picture
Neuro, I put the whole tour up for a vote, all the Junkies had a chance to rally their troops and bring me to destroy their cities. So if FLA didn't represent, they will ahve to do so next time. Gather up that community of writers and vote!

Will do Boss.

NeuroMan42's picture

I think heading out of Blackfriday with a pipewrench to talk to the folks here will help with the vote. Have a great Turkey Day.

What the...

Looking for ward to the FDO coming to my town and the 12 days of Sigmas - What kind of bar do you prefer Scott? A Joint/dive bar or a trendy club? I think I know the answer. There are all kinds within easy walking distance of the Tattered Cover. Should i paint my Subaru Baja plaid?

Taste is the Enemy of Art- Wm S Burroughs (or maybe not)

Houston, here I come!

Gmork's picture
Hooray! I am all over that Houston date. I'll be flying in so any local junkies that can recommend nearby hotels, restaurants, etc would be appreciated (PM or just post here) as I plan to make a weekend of it.

need to check a few things, will be in houston,

treed's picture

Denver Awaits!

The beer is plenty cold here in January and the Tattered Cover is probably THE place to do it (conveniently located within a block of the infamous Wynkoop Brewery! ( http://www.wynkoop.com ) - oh the hangovers to come! See you soon Scott

THat is cool!
